History[]
His debut came out back in 2004 by Kellogg's Apple Jacks, his goal was to make it to the bowl first. But there was Bad Apple who's trying to stop him and get there first. Bad Apple's plan doesn't work because Apple Jacks doesn't taste like apples, it's the taste of sweet cinnamon that's always "the winner-mon!".
In 2006, Bad Apple's antagonistic nature was later dropped due to complaints from non-profit health food organizations such as Center for Science in the Public Interest over the campaign discouraging children from eating fruit by antagonizing the Apple character, leaving Cinna-Mon that mascot until 2007 when Bad Apple got renamed to Apple, leading to Apple and CinnaMon being portrayed as highly competitive friends, both getting into the bowl. The campaign was slated to be retired in 2007, and replaced by a retread of the 1990s campaign focused on children, but fan response to Apple and Cinna-Mon helped them remain as the mascots.
In 2007, Apple and Cinna-Mon were fused together with Cinna-Mon sticking through the center of Apple with both of their legs at the bottom of their body. They remained this way for a few of the commercials until they became unstuck by a special machine. Then in 2009, both mascots got teleported to The Big Apple (aka New York City). Later in 2012, the campaign retired.
In 2013, Kellogg's Apple Jacks introduced a new multi-grain cereal called "Cinnamon Jacks", with the cinnamon stick, Cinna-Mon, as its sole mascot. The cereal is flavored with brown sugar and cinnamon. An ad was promoted to the new cereal, with the song named "Cinna-brate", a parody of "Celebrate Good Times", by Kool & The Gang. This was the last commercial to be aired in the campaign, although Apple and Cinna-Mon still became the mascots.
Later in 2020, Kellogg's updated Cinna-Mon's design, removing his beanie and dreads and changing his name to Cinnamon, likely due to concerns of racial stereotypes. In November 2022, Apple and Cinna-Mon were completely redesigned on the main Apple Jacks packaging, causing much controversy, however their original designs (including Cinna-Mon's pre-2022 redesign) still remain on other branding. bring back on original his beanie and dreads Cinna-Mon names updated
