Linus the Lionhearted is a cereal mascot for Post Consumer Brands who debuted in 1959, when they introduced Heart of Oats. His initial character design features him wearing gym gear, with an outlined red heart on his white top. In 1963, Linus was redesigned for the next cereal he was mascot for, Crispy Critters. In his second design, which is the one well-known, he is shown in his natural fur. Sometime later, he was given his own cartoon show, guest-starring other Post cereal mascots, including Sugar Bear for Sugar Crisp, Rory Raccoon for Toasties, Lovable Truly for Alpha-Bits and So-Hi for Rice Crinkles.
